Ametrine is the fusion of Chevron Amethyst and Madeira Citrine and an original gemsona created by KJD.

Appearance Edit

Ametrine has a pink complexion with orange markings. Short yellow hair and three eyes, two of which are hidden under her bang.[1] The right eye is pink while the other two are purple and orange. She also has three arms. Her teeths appear to have a small gap in them. Her gemstones are embedded in her left and right shoulders.

She wears a typical Homeworld uniform with a Pink Diamond insignia on the chest. The top is bordeaux while the collar and the pants are dark bordeaux. She wears a pair of bordeaux boots with dark bordeaux points.

Personality Edit

KJD describes her as "a giant happy teddy bear that wants to take care of everything and make you laugh but would also crush anyone that hurt you". Indicating that she's really protective and joyful. [2]

The relationships that forms Ametrine is very queerplatonic. Chevron and Citrine found the rest of themselves in each other and they like being Ametrine because they both feel like a whole person when they’re together. Their relationship is based in friendship and trust.[3]

However they're not a permafusion. They're very similiar to Stevonnie: sometimes they just feel lonely and decide to unfuse to chill together.[4]

Abilities Edit

Ametrine possesses standard Gem abilities, bubbling, shapeshifting, fusion, regeneration, agelessness, and superhuman strength/durability.

Trivia Edit

  • The Pink Diamond on her chest doesn't represent her aligment. KJD confirmed that it is meant to represent a mix of her components' colors.[5]
  • KJD chose this gemstone because Ametrine in real life is a mix of Amethyst and Citrine.[6]

Gemology Edit

Gemstone Information

  • Ametrine, also known as trystine or by its trade name as bolivianite, is a naturally occurring variety of quartz. It is a mixture of amethyst and citrine with zones of purple and yellow or orange. Almost all commercially available ametrine is mined only in Bolivia.
  • The colour of the zones visible within ametrine are due to differing oxidation states of iron within the crystal. The different oxidation states occur due to there being a temperature gradient across the crystal during its formation. Artificial ametrine can be created by differential heat treatment of amethyst.
  • Legend has it that ametrine was first introduced to Europe by a conquistador's gifts to the Spanish Queen, after he received a mine in Bolivia as a dowry when he married a princess from the native Ayoreos tribe.
  • Most ametrine in the low price segment can be assumed to stem from synthetic material. Since 1994, a Russian laboratory has perfected the industrial production of bicolored quartz crystals that are later irradiated to bring out the typical ametrine colors. Green-yellow or golden-blue ametrine does not exist naturally.
